The University of Mary Washington softball team had five members earn All-Coast-to-Coast Conference honors on Thursday morning, according to a release from the conference.
Third baseman
Emily Angel and pitcher
Stephanie Csontos earned All-C2C First Team honors, while
Erica Shoop,
Emily Mousso, and
Maeve Haun were all named as C2C Honorable Mentions.
Angel, who earned Honorable Mention honors last season, hit .397 with nine doubles, a triple, and six home runs this season -- she ranks second in program history in home runs with 11. She drove in 32 runs, while walking 12 times and striking out just 12 times as the best bat in UMW's lineup.
Csontos showed promise in her first season in Fredericksburg as the right-hander tossed 54 innings in 19 games. She pitched to an ERA of 4.41 to lead the Eagles, while striking out 45 batters.
Shoop hit .340 in her final season as she doubled nine times and drove in 24 runs in 40 games for Mary Washington. The catcher walked 17 times, while striking out just 11 times. Mousso, meanwhile, hit .318 in 38 games for UMW, doubling three times and driving in 17 runs. The utlity player drew 14 walks, whole punching out just 11 times.
Haun, also a first-year, was second on the team in average with a .358 mark -- doubling nine times and driving in 16 runs out of the lead-off spot in the Eagles' lineup.
Mary Washington is back in action for the Coast-to-Coast Conference semifinal game against Salisbury on Friday afternoon in Newport News, Va.
