UMW Softball Falls to Salisbury on Saturday

The University of Mary Washington was swept by Salisbury in Salisbury, Md.

Game 1 - Eagles fall, 9-1

The Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third thanks to Erica Shoop's RBI single that scored Kennedy Darling, but Salisbury would go on to score the next nine runs. Sydney Jester turned in a solid start in the circle, yielding three runs on three hits in 3.1 innings.

Game 2 - Eagles fall, 4-2.

In Game 2, UMW trailed by a pair of runs in the fifth when it came back to tie the game. Mia Farhat drew a bases-loaded walk before Emily Angel tied the game with a sac fly to center field. But in the bottom half, the Sea Gulls took the lead, then added another run in the sixth, 4-2.

Cierra Foss pitched all six innings for the Eagles as she yielded four runs (three earned), while striking out four.

The Eagles are back in action on Sunday against Catholic. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
