UMW Athletics Graduation Cords and Stoles
The Department of Athletics purchases cords or stoles for qualified student-athletes, student managers and student assistant coaches. The cord is silver in color and the stole is white in color.
 
Minimum Standards – cord
To receive a cord from the Department of Athletics, the student will need to be a graduate in good standing with the team and have completed at least two seasons of participation or have been on the roster for the entire fall and spring semester of their senior year.
 
Minimum Standards – stole
To receive a student-athlete stole from the Department of Athletics, the student-athlete will need to be a graduate and in good standing with the team, having completed four seasons of eligibility whether at UMW or as a transfer student to UMW.
 
Students are not eligible for a cord AND stole. Student managers and student assistant coaches are not eligible for a stole. If a student-athlete only plays for one season, they are not eligible for either.
 
Student-athletes receiving a stole AND who are in the Honors Program would wear both the Honors Program and Student-Athlete stole.
