UMW Softball Drops Doubleheader at Frostburg State on Friday

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of games at Frostburg State on Friday. The Eagles fall to 20-18 overall and 5-7 in Capital Athletic Conference play.

The opener saw impressive pitching from both sides, as the two teams combined for five total hits. Frostburg State scored in the third, proving to be the only run of the game.

Kara Deppe took the loss for the Eagles, striking out eight and walking two in 6.0 IP.

In the second game, the Eagles scored a run in the first to take an early lead. Caroline Callahan walked and stole second before Hannah Hautz drove her in off a double to center field. Frostburg State answered with two runs in their first at bat to take the lead at 2-1. Both teams would go scoreless for the remainder of the contest.

Erin Stinson took the loss for the Eagles, striking out two and walking one in 5.1 IP.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Southern Virginia for a 1:00 pm start.
