UMW Softball Drops Pair at Salisbury

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of Capital Athletic Conference games at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon, 4-3 and 7-1. The Eagles fall to 12-18 overall, and 4-2 in CAC play.

In the opener, UMW rallied for three sixth inning runs to take a 3-2 lead, but the Gulls answered with two in the seventh for the win. Brandee Adams (Waverly, Va., Tidewater Academy), Bireet Chitty (Stafford, Va., Brooke Point), and Amanda Adams (Ashburn, Va., Stone Bridge) each singled, and Morgan Lamon (Herndon, Va., Oakton) provided a two-run double for UMW. Nicole Black (Stafford, Va., North Stafford) took the loss for UMW, allowing two runs in two innings on two hits.

The second game saw the Sea Gulls score two runs in the fifth and four in the soxth in a 7-1 win. Amanda Adams continued to hit well for the Eagles with two hits, while Chitty and Lamon each added one hit. Black allowed three runs on eight hits in four innings in defeat.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Virginia Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m..
