GAME ONE | GAME TWO
The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a doubleheader at Shenandoah University on Tuesday afternoon in Winchester, 2-0 and 4-2. The Eagles fall to 10-16 on the season.
In the opener, UMW was held to three hits. Freshman
Julianne Sweat (Chesterfield, Va., Cosby) took the tough luck loss, as she allowed one earned run in six innings with four strikeouts.
In game two, the Hornets scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth for the 4-2 win. Juniors
Morgan Lamon (Herndon, Va., Oakton) and
Amanda Adams (Ashburn, Va., Stone Bridge) each had two hits for the Eagles, as did freshman
Brianna D'Agata (Hanover, Pa., Southwestern).
Nicole Black (Stafford, Va., North Stafford) took the loss, allowing three earned runs in 3.1 innings on five hits, with three walks and two strikeouts.
Mary Washington will return to action on Thursday when they visit Hood College at 3:30 p.m. for a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader.
