The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened their seasons on Saturday at the Virginia Wesleyan University Spring Break Invitational.
The men saw
Luke Blair finish first in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:06.03, just ahead of teammates
Jacob Lohr, who took second at 4:11.08, and
Aidan Kimener third at 4:13.99. Blair then finished first in the 800 meters at 1:59.53, with Lohr taking second at 2:01.24. The 4x100 meter relay of
Justin Ford,
Malikai Mitchell,
Jacinto Jones II, and
Jason Duncan finished first at 42.11, and
Mohammed Ahmed took fifth in the 400 meters at 51.68.
Luke Wahlquist took second in the 400 meter hurdles at 59.31.
Elias Polovchik finished second in the javelin throw, at 165 feet, 10 inches.
Brady Thompson was fourth in the discus at 41 feet, 0.25 inches, fifth in the hammer throw at 112 feet, nine inches and seventh in the discus.
For the women, the 4x100 meter relay of
Jolene Adu,
Sophia Redmond,
Journey Mason, and
Yasmine Deane finished second at 50.68.
Eyaya Fletcher was third in the 1500 meters at 5:13.50, with
Ava Wray taking fifth at 5:18.65. Fletcher was fourth in the 800 meters at 2:34.01, and Wray was fifth at 2:35.55.Â
Both teams will be back in action next Friday and Saturday by hosting the Battleground Relays.
