The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Christopher Newport University New Captains Classic and the University of Virginia Invitational this weekend, with several top results.
At CNU,
Lily Hoffman finished first in the 5000 meters at 18:49, with
Addy Wallin taking third at 20:34. The men saw UMW finish in the top four spots, with
Steven Niese taking first at 15:48, being followed by
Nicholas Smerlis,
Jimmy Volk, and
Trent Nichols. The women's 3000 meters saw
Maddie Binkley finish second at 12:15, followed by
Rania Carter in third,
Mattea Ryan in fourth,
Cameron Rico in fifth and
Kendra White in sixth.
Thomas Mulhern won the 3000 meters, followed in second by
Edmund Garcia.
Patrick Gaffney finished second in the 1500 meters, at 4:03, with
Luke Blair taking fifth.
Justin Ford won the 100 meters at 11.09 and finished second in the 200 meters, and
Aidan Kimener was second in the 800 meters at 1:57.40.Â
At UVA,
Anijah James broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing 28th at 14.59.
UMW will host the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Championships on May 1-2.
