The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference championships on Friday at the Battleground.
The women saw
Yasmin Deane break the meet record in the 100 meter prelims, with a time of 11.95.
Anijah James broke the meet record in the 100 meter hurdles, at 14.42.
Lily Hoffman finished third in the 10,000 meters, with a time of 37:03.33, and
Hannah Steele finished seventh in the hammer throw, with a toss of 103 feet, two inches. James also took fifth in the long jump, at 17 feet, 9.75 inches.
The men saw
Nicholas Smerlis finish third in the 10K, at 32.02.92, while
Steven Niese finished eighth and
Jimmy Volk took ninth.
Brady Thompson was sixth in the hammer throw at 149 feet, one inch, and took ninth in the shot put at 38 feet, 6.75 inches.
Ashton Shultz finished ninth in the 300 meter steeplechase at 10:46.19.
The meet will continue at the Battleground on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
