Barrie's Two Second Half Scores Lift UMW Men's Soccer Past Penn St. Harrisburg, 3-2, on Wednesday

Box Score

Freshman Idrissa Barrie scored a pair of second half goals to lift the University of Mary Washington men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Penn State-Harrisburg on Wednesday in Capital Athletic Conference action in the regular season finale. The Eagles improve to 13-3 overall, and 8-1 in league play.

Although Mary Washington held much of the momentum in the first half, it was the Lions who scored first. Ethan Hoover scored unassisted at 20:29 for the only scoring of the frame, and came on Harrisburg's first shot. The score stood at 1-0 at halftime.

In the second, the Eagles came out strong, tying the game at 1-1 on a Jack Saslowsky score inside the far post through traffic. The Lions came right back to regain the lead at 64:56, as Dustin Rohrbach scored after his initial shot hit the crossbar.

Barrie scored at 71:45 on a play set up by senior Jacob Burke. Burke gained the assist on the game winner to Barrie at 76:20.

The Eagles led in shots, 14-9, and both teams had six corner kicks. UMW goalie Matt Spencer had two saves, while Harrisburg's Brandon Hoover had seven.

UMW will host a CAC Tournament game next Tuesday at 3:30, against an opponent to be determined.
