The University of Mary Washington's men's soccer program earned the Coast-to-Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and the C2C Scholar-Athlete of the Year as six Eagles earned All-C2C honors on Wednesday morning, the conference announced.
Forward
Sammy Amorose was named the C2C Offensive Player of the Year, while keeper
Tristan Kickbush was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Defender
Nathan Macek earned Scholar-Athlete of the year honors. Midfielders
Moises Argueta-Garcia and
Jack Sturman joined Amorose, Kickbush, and Macek on the C2C First Team, while defender
Blake Hoskins earned a selection on the C2C Second Team.
Amorose becomes the third consecutive Eagle to be named the conference's offensive player of the year, joining Josh Kirkland (2021-2023) and
Carter Berg (2024) after Amorose scored seven goals (fourth most in the C2C), while adding six assists (most in the conference). He came away with 20 points -- third best in the C2C, while continually drawing the opposing team's top defender and consistent double-teams due to his scoring prowess. He earned was named the C2C Offensive Player of the Week twice this season and it's his second All-C2C selection after being named to the First Team last season.
On the defensive end, Kickbush becomes the second-straight Eagle to win the award after
Freddy Rogers won it last season. Kickbush earns his first All-C2C selection after earning his fifth Defensive Player of the Week award from the conference earlier this week. For Kickbush, he came away with a conference-best 78 saves and save percentage (.830) as he led UMW to a 9-6-3 record this season that includes a pair of ranked wins over No. 4 Washington & Lee and No. 22 Christopher Newport.
As a senior and team captain, Macek earns his first All-C2C selection after battling back from a torn ACL that cut his season short last fall. On the backline, Macek has been a leader for the Eagles in their seven shutouts this season. He came away with two assists on the offensive end for UMW this fall -- both of them coming on corners. Macek played over 1,500 minutes this fall and will graduate with a degree in finance in the spring.
Argueta-Garcia quickly burst onto the scene for UMW this season, playing in all 18 games and starting in 16 of them. He netted three goals and four assists for the Eagles -- his first two coming in the Eagles win over NC Wesleyan, while scoring his first career goal in a win over Regent. He recorded a pair of game-winning goals, while also finishing third on the team in points with 10.
Sturman, meanwhile, netted his first two career goals as he entered the starting lineup for the first time in his three-year career at UMW. He came away with the game-winner against Bridgewater, while putting the finisher on Messiah. For Sturman, it's his first C2C honor he's earned thus far.
As a captain on this year's squad, defender
Blake Hoskins earned Second Team honors after starting in 17 games for UMW this season. Hoskins played over 1,300 minutes on the backline for the Eagles coming away with his lone assist against Virginia Wesleyan.
