The University of Mary Washington's
Justin Ritz (First Team),
Brendan McComber (Second), and
Bobby Ayscue (Second) earned Virginia All-State honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors on Wednesday morning.
Ritz capped off one of the seasons in program history after recording the fourth-best ERA in a single season in program history (1.84). He was named a C2C First Teamer and All-Region honoree after going 6-3 in 10 starts (11 appearances), striking 44 batters out in the process. Ritz tossed 49 innings, sporting his first All-Region honor in his career.
For McComber, the lefty had one of the best regular seasons in recent memory on the bump for UMW. He finished the regular season with a 1.64 ERA in just under 50 innings, earning Coast-to-Coast Pitcher of the Year in the process. McComber tossed 52 innings for UMW this past season, sporting a 2.25 ERA, while going 5-0 in 13 total appearances for UMW this past spring. He also became the program's all-time leader in pitching appearances (59) late in the season, too.
Ayscue, meanwhile, bounced back from a slower 2024 to return to his all-conference form after hitting .336 in 38 games, while play an All-American level center field. Ayscue doubled eight times, tripled three times and drove five balls out of the ballpark, while driving in 33 runs.
