The 69th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team gained a 6-1 victory over visiting Norh Carolina Wesleyan University on Friday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 6-7 on the year.
The Eagles claimed two of three doubles matches in claiming the doubles point. At one,
Addison Felts and
Natalie Kim scored a 6-0 win over Ivanna Torres and Bethan Fothergill. At three,
Jacey Copeland and
Sophia Broomall scored a 7-6 (4) win over Melanie Guzman and Linda Nhiwatiwa for the clinching point.
In singles, Felts defeated Andrea Elaez Miranda at one, 6-1, 7-5, Kim topped Fothergill at two, 6-1, 6-1, and Copeland defeated Torres at four, 6-1, 6-2. At five, Broomall defeated Nhiwatiwa, 6-2, 6-0, and at six,
Evie Snyder defeated Ajla Selimovic, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-4).
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday at Salisbury University at 1:00 p.m.
