The 29th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches and four of six in singles in gaining a 5-2 victory over #23 Christopher Newport University in a battle of Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference opponents on Friday at the Hegmann Family Courts. The Eagles improve to 7-4 on the season.
UMW opened with doubles wins from
Addison Felts and
Natalie Kim at one (6-4), and from freshmen
Isabella Rotaru and
Sarah Sandoval Banuelos, 6-1, at two.
The top of the singles lineup was equally successful, as Felts scored a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kendell Chung at one, Rotaru defeated Kylie Schaeffer at two, 6-4, 6-4, and Kim downed Samantha Robertson at three, 6-3, 6-1. Sandoval Banuelos won at four, 6-2, 6-1, over Eva Taylor.
The Eagles will be back in action next Friday, when they visit Washington (Md.) College at 4:00 p.m.
