UMW Women's Tennis Opens at Navy Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational

The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team opened the 2024-25 season by traveling to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, for the Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational this weekend.

The Eagles saw nine players compete in singles play, as well as four doubles teams. In singles, sophomore Addison Felts scored a consolation victory in the A flight, with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Cenan Liu of George Mason University.

In doubles, the highlight was the play of top duo Felts and freshman Natalie Kim. That pair opened the first round with a 6-4 win over Parvathi Shanker and Kate Lee of Navy, and then scored a semifinal round victory over Sophia Kim and Jay Xiao of Johns Hopkins, 7-5. Felts and Kim fell in the final to Tamara Bachmann and Isabela Venter of St. Bonaventure, 6-4.

The Eagles will be back in action on September 21-23, when they host the ITA South/Southeast Regional Tournament at the Hegmann Family Tennis Facility.
