The University of Mary Washington men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 50th annual Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday. The schools were organized into different levels, with multiple races and over 100 different schools represented.
The Eagle men were placed in a very competitive "white division" 8K race, and finished in 40th place against some of the top Division II and III schools in the nation. Senior
Jacob Lohr led the Eagles with a 108th place finish, with a time of 26:12.4, and he was followed by junior AIdan Kimener in 211th place, at 27:24.7. Freshman
Rylan Sedlacek finished 237th at 27:45.1, sophomore
Jimmy Volk took 272nd at 28:41.1, and sophomore
Ashton Shultz finished 273rd a 28:42.6.
The women competed in the green division 6K race, and finished 13th of 28, against Division II and III opponents. Freshman
Lily Hoffman again led the way, finishing in 19th place overall with a time of 23:27.8, and senior
Jessica Oberlies finished 61st at 24:35.1. Freshman
Maddie Binkley claimed 74th place at 24:58.4, freshman
Ava Wray was 92nd at 25:21.7, and sophomore
Eyaya Fletcher finished 117th at 25:52.7.
Both teams will be back in action in two weeks at the Rowan University Inter-Regional Border Battle.
