Maci Landel, Kye Robinson Named UMW Athletes of the Year

Junior women's soccer All-America forward Maci Landel and sophomore All-America men's basketball guard Kye Robinson have been named as the 2025-26 University of Mary Washington Female and Male Athletes of the Year.

Landel, a second team United Soccer Coaches All-America choice, led the women's soccer team to the NCAA Division III Tournament Quarterfinals for the first time since 2004. She led the conference in goals scored, game-winning goals, assists, and shots, leading to first team all-conference and all-region honors, before she became the program's first All-America in 20 years.

She started all 23 games, scoring nine goals and adding 11 assists. In addition, she was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, after gaining C2C Offensive Player of the Week for three weeks. She netted five game-winners, scoring the game-winner against then-No. 3 ranked Christopher Newport. Landel was named to the C2C All-Academic Team and UMW Athletic Honor Roll, and plays for the Richmond Ivy this summer.

Robinson led the men's basketball team to the first national championship in any sport at the school since 1991, as the team finished 30-3 in winning the national title at the buzzer, 75-73, over Emory University. Kye was named a consensus All-America, gaining third team honors from NABC and second team from D3hoops.com, and was a finalist for the Bevo Francis Small College Player of the Year. His accolades include consensus first team all-region, NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, first team all-conference, and was a seven-time C2C Player of the Week.

Kye led the nation in scoring, breaking the school season records for points (804), points per game (24.3), field goals (265), field goal attempts (527), free throws (238), and free throws attempted (299). He broke the single game record with 88.2 shooting percentage (15-17) in a win over UC Santa Cruz. He ranked fourth in the nation in field goals attempted, was third in field goals, and led the nation in free throws and free throw attempts. He became 24th member of the UMW 1,000-point club on 2/19, and now ranks 15th in school history with 1,213 points.
