Box Score The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 12-8 decision at St. Mary's College of MD on Tuesday evening in the Eagles' regular season finale. The Eagles slip to 7-8 on the season.
The Seahawks jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first quarter, scoring first, just two minutes into the game. The Eagles tied the score at 1-1 with 12:12 left on a goal from
Quinn Weaver, and a
Jackson Rhodes assist. The Seahawks scored the next four goals in building a 5-1 lead, before the Eagles gained goals from
Tucker Bradley with 5:26 remaining, and
Joe Novak on a Bradley assist at 4:13. St. Mary's scored three late tallies in taking an 8-3 lead to the second quarter.
St. Mary's scored twice in the second to grow their lead to 10-3, before
Tanner Boone scored on a
Vince Reaver assist with 10:09 left. The defense continued to shine in the third, as the teams split a pair of goals, with
Dylan Borges scoring on a Boone assist at 4:46.
The Eagles outscored the Seahawks, 3-1, in the fourth, with goals from
Reece Stone,
Jackson Rhodes, and
Christian Fleming.
St. Mary's held a 41-40 shot edge, and led in ground balls, 31-22. Eagle goalkeeper
Ryan D'Angelo made 14 saves on the night.
Mary Washington will host Kean University on Sunday at noon in the first round of the Coastal Lacrosse Conference tournament.
