The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and used a balanced attack to down Kean University, 14-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground, The Eagles improve to 6-4 overall, and 1-0 in Coastal Lacrosse Conference action.

Dave Votapek opened the scoring at 9:43, and then assisted freshman
Joe Novak at 5:56. Novak added another with 27 seconds left in the first, giving the Eagles a 3-0 advantage through 15 minutes.
In the second, the Eagles upped the lead to 4-0 on a
James Milligan score at 13:49. After a Kean goal, Milligan added another on a
Tucker Bradley assist. Kean scored on a man-up chance to pull to within 5-2, but
Tanner Boone and Bradley each scored on Novak assists to open the third quarter to give the Eagles a 7-2 cushion. Bradley scored on a Novak assist to interrupt a Kean scoring run.Â
The Eagles scored five straight to close the third and open the fourth to put the game away. Boone scored on a Novak pass in the final minute of the third, and Novak scored another to open the fourth. Votapek followed on a
Jacob Fowler assist, and Bradley added another on a Recce Stone assist, capping three goals in the opening 2:37 of the fourth. Milligan scored on a Boone assist at 8:46, and
Philip Krauser capped the Eagles scoring at 2:27.
Kean held a 41-40 shot edge, and each team collected 29 ground balls. UMW won 15 of 24 face offs.
Ryan D'Angelo made 13 saves while allowing six goals in 58 minutes in gaining the win.
The Eagles will host Christopher Newport University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
