After a 7-1-1 start to the 2025 season, the University of Mary Washington women's soccer team was ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Region VI ranking released on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles have enjoyed a great start to the season, scoring 22 goals in nine games for an average of 2.44 goals-per-game. Too, they out-shoot their opponents by nearly 15 shots a night, 19.9-4.6.
Both sophomore
Layla Royster and junior
Emily Box lead the team in goals with four each, while junior
Maci Landel (5) and sophomore
Katie Britton (4) have combined for nine assists. On the backline, senior
Natalie Anderson, junior
Naomi Knight, and junior
Amanda Dolan lead the way and have allowed a total of zero shots to be taken by UMW's opponents in the last two games.
In their nine games, keepers
Emily Orn and
Kate Ronzoni have combined for six shutouts this season.
UMW gets into but the meat of its schedule this week with a matchup at No. 22 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday and then at No. 3 Christopher Newport on Saturday. Both kicks are set for 7 p.m.
