The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team opened the 2024-25 season by hosting George Mason University, Longwood University, and Johns Hopkins University on September 7-8, for the annual UMW Kickoff Classic.
Sophomore
Trevor Rein and freshman
Matt Scott each went 2-1 in singles play. Rein defeated Peter Belosevic of Longwood, 6-3, 6-3, and also topped Jacco Arends of George Mason, 7-5, 6-7, 10-5. Scott defeated Seva Rusin of Longwood, 0-6, 6-2, 10-4, and Rayan El Khalifi of George Mason, 0-6, 7-6, 10-4.
In doubles, Rein and
Jack Riordan, as well as
Evan Fisher and
Brock Ladehoff each went 2-1. Rein and Riordan topped Gonzalez Paiva and Belosevic of Longwood, 7-6 (5), and Dylan Blenkiron/Daniel Ardila of George Mason, 6-3.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend at Navy.
