The University of Mary Washington baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision to fifth-ranked Salisbury University on Sunday afternoon at V. Earl Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles slip to 26-13 on the season.

The early going proved to be a pitching duel between UMW's Jackson Myers and Salisbury's Jimmy Adkins. Salisbury scored two runs on four hits (including a pair of infield hits) in the second, and held a 2-0 lead to the sixth.

UMW rallied for three in the sixth. With one out, Bobby Ayscue doubled to left and advanced to third on a single from Ty Lowe. Noah Roots followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Eagles on the scoreboard. After Ryan Schwarz was hit by a pitch, Lowe scored on an error to knot the score, and Luke Guerzon followed with an RBI single to put the Eagles ahead.

Myers didn't allow a hit after the second until the eighth. With two outs, Salisbury gained a walk and a two-run homer followed for the decisive runs.

Ayscue singled and doubled, Gueron singled twice, and Roots rippd a triple to lead the Eagles' offense. Myers absorbed the loss to fall to 4-4, but allowed four runs on five hits in eight innings, with one walk and eight strikeouts.

The Eagles will visit Penn State-Harrisburg on Monday in the regular season finale at 2:00 p.m.
