The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-14 decision to Stockton University on Saturday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles slip to 6-7 on the season, and 0-2 in the Coastal Lacrosse Conference.

The Eagles jumped ahead in the early going, 2-1, on a pair of goals from Jackson Davis, with assists to Ethan Castleman and Garrett Keogh. Stockton scored four straight to take a 5-2 lead, before Castleman closed the first with a score with 47 seconds left.

The Ospreys took charge in the second, scoring seven straight to grab a 12-3 lead, before Dave Votapek ended the streak with a score with 3:03 left before halftime.

The third quarter saw back and forth action. After Stockton scored the opening goal, UMW answered with scores from Nathan Turney at 9:24 and Mike Seraphin-Jones on a Davis assist at 7:41. The Ospreys responded with three straight, but UMW battled back again with goals from Dave Votapek at 4:35 and Ethan Castleman on a Keogh assist with 4:04 left. Stockton scored the capper in the third to take a 17-8 lead to the fourth.

Votapek scored first in the fourth, and, after a Stockton goal, J.D. Nozemack and Keogh scored to pull the Eagles to within 17-11. After another score from the visitors, UMW scored three straight to end the game, with Henry Moag starting the run, and Nozemack adding a pair.

Nozemack and Votapek each had three goals, and Davis and Castleman each had two goals and an assist. Keogh added a goal and two assists.

The Eagles led in shots, 53-51, while Stockton led in ground balls, 43-30. Riley Green had seven saves and Wyatt Martin 13 in goal for Mary Washington.

Mary Washington will be back in action on April 15 at Kean University at 1:00 p.m.
