The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 decision at eighth-ranked York College of PA on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles slip to 8-6 on the season.

After York scored the first goal, the Eagles answered with a tally from Katie Blair on a Bridget Crowley assist with 10:55 left in the first. The Spartans came back with a goal less than a minute later, and added another to take a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes.

In the second, UMW opeed the scoring to draw to within 3-2, as Molly Daw scored on a free position shot with 13:33 remaining. York then scored three straight but the Eagles responded with two of the last three goals before halftime. Daw scored unassistsed for her second of the day, and Kayla Sarazin capped the second quarter scoring with a free position shot, and the Eagles pulled to within 7-4.

Both defenses tightened in the third, as UMW scored one of three goals, from Erin Steinberg on a Katie Blair assist with 12:46 left. In the fourth, York pulled away, scoring five of the six goals. UMW's came from Caeley Terapane on a Sarazin assist with 4:34 remaining.

York led in shots, 45-24, as well as draw controls, 17-7, and ground balls, 23-12. UMW goalkeeper Cailyn Tripp made 21 saves on the day.

The Eagles will be back in action next Tuesday at home against Southern Virginia at 3:00 p.m.
