Box Score The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team faltered at home against Haverford College, losing 9-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Eagles came out strong and fast with the first goal coming in the 2nd minute of the game, off the hands of Hunter Tipton. The Ford's would answer back at 8:21, but Henry Moag would strike again for UMW at 5:18, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead. Haverford would get the last 2 scores of the 1st period, making the score 3-2.
The 2nd period would start off the same as the first, with J.D. Nozemak earning an unassisted goal at 7:12, with Mike Seraphin-Jones adding another Eagles goal to the tally at 6:32. Haverford would find the back of the net twice in the second to give them the advantage at the half, 5-4.
The Eagles and Jackson Popeck would tie up the game at 13:26, with J.D. Nozemak earning the assist and his second point of the game.
Haverford would hold UMW off the scoreboard and score 4 goals in the last 21 minutes of the contest to end the game at 9-5.
In the end, UMW outshot Catholic, 34-29, won 11 of 16 faceoffs, and led in ground balls, 29-27. UMW goalie Riley Green made nine saves in 60 minutes of action, while Mary Washington forced 21 turnovers to Catholics' 18.
The Eagles travel to Lebanon Valley College on Wednesday to battle the Dutchmen at 3:30 p.m.
