Box Score The University of Mary Washington baseball team defeated Gwynedd Mercy College, 7-0, on Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Eagles improve to 6-4 on the season.
The Eagles broke ahead with four runs in the third inning, and added one in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Senior outfielder Norman Holcomb led the Eagles with a single, double, run scored, and RBI. Xavier Herring was 2-3 with a run and RBI, and Jonathan Sedmak added a two-run double.
Sophomore Erik Parnell gained the win on the mound, allowing no runs on five hits in five innings, with no walks and four strikeouts. Freshman Griffin Graham picked up the save, allowing no runs on two hits in four innings, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
UMW will close their spring break trip on Saturday against Manhattanville College at 12:30 p.m.
