#23 UMW Women's Lacrosse Falls at #3 Salisbury, 17-2

The 23rd ranked University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-2 decision at third-ranked Salisbury University on Tuesday afternoon in Coast 2 Coast AThletic Conference action on Maryland's Eastern shore. The Eagles slip to 5-5 overall, and 3-3 in conference play.

The Sea Gulls opened the scoring with two goals in the opening five minutes, and scored the game's first five goals. Senior attacker Kate Sovero scored the Eagles' first goal on a free position attempt with 6:10 remaining in the first half. Salisbury scored the final two goals of the half, and led, 7-1, at intermission.

In the second half, Salisbury scored the first five goals of the frame, before Kayla Sarazin scored for the Eagles on an extra-player opportunity with 15:41 remaining. The Sea Gulls scored the final five goals of the contest.

The Sea Gulls led in shots, 32-12, as well as ground balls, 20-6. The Eagles led in draw controls, 11-8, including five from Maya Levin. UMW goalkeeper Reilly Miller made nine saves.

The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday when they visit St. Mary's College in a key Coast 2 Coast matchup at 4:00 p.m.
