Box Score The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team scored a pair of first half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan College on Wednesday night in Fredericksburg. The Eagles improve to 6-1 on the season.
Mary Washingotn opened the scoring on a goal from freshman Justin Carey at 13:58, on an assist from classmate Robert Tata. Less than five minutes, junior Jacob Burke scored on a Carey assist to push the score to 2-0.
The Eagles clamped down defensively, limiting the Bishops to five shots, and none in the second half. UMW led in shots, 19-5, and in corner kicks, 8-2. Sophomore goalie had two saves for the Eagles in registering the shutout, while Jesper Olsson and Alex Magner combined for seven stops for NC Wesleyan.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Roanoke College at 3:00 p.m.
