The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team took down Marymount on Friday night, 3-1, in Fredericksburg, Va. to end the regular season.
The Eagle offense got started quickly in the 11' when
Caleb Perry and
Elliot Berg teamed up to find an open
Jack Sturman in the box, whose tap in gave UMW an early 1-0 lead. UMW scored a pair of goals late in the first half to extend the lead to three.
The first came when defender
Carson Davis kicked the ball down field to a streaking
Andrew Brittain, who tapped the ball into the back of the net for the Eagles' second score in the 39'. Then, off of a set piece,
Mason Landreth found Brittain open, who then placed the ball at Gerrard Vayoi's feet to tap the third goal of the half into the net in the 42'.
Marymount scored in the 72', but it was all the Saints could muster.
The Eagles led in shots, 24-10, and had 12 shots on net compared to Marymount's four. Too, UMW led in corners, 8-2.
UMW is back in action for the Coast-to-Coast Conference Tournament from Nov. 5 to Nov. 8 in Salisbury, Md.
