Seven different players scored goals to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to an 11-7 win over Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday afternoon at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.

UMW jumped out to the early lead, as freshman Owen Dingman scored less than two minutes into play, and senior Jack Bondurant added another with 10:59 left in the quarter. The Yellow Jackets cut the deficit to 2-1 less than two minutes later, but senior Chris Garcia scored for UMW with 6:39 left in the first to up the lead to 3-1.

Randolph-Macon closed the first quarter with a score, and opened the second with another to tie the score at 3-3, but UMW found goals from Bondurant and Dingman late in the second to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.

The Eagles used goals from Mike Marson with 12:40 left and Greg Smith with 11:59 remaining in the third to up the advantage to 7-3, but again RMC answered with a pair of scores to cut the score to 7-5.

The Eagles edged away by scoring four of the game's next five goals. Miles Davis scored with 3:57 left in the third and Marson scored again just over a minute later. After the Jackets scored to close the third, both defenses tightened, with the next score coming from Dingman with 2:46 remaining. John Mulcahy scored with 48 seconds left to push UMW's lead to 11-6, but RMC capped the scoring seven seconds later.

Mary Washington led in shots, 32-22, and in ground balls, 40-32. Dingman had three goals and an assist, while Bondurant had two goals and two assists for the Eagles. Davis scored one goal and dished out three assists.

Junior goalie Pete Shammas picked up the win with eight saves in net. The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they host McDaniel College at 12:00 p.m.
