The University of Mary Washington baseball team scored three runs in the eighth inning on a pair of wild pitches and a passed ball to defeat Neumann College, 6-4, on Thursday afternoon at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles improve to 4-1 on the year.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, the Eagles scored once on a Tyler Truslow RBI single. The Knights responded with one in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead, but the Eagles answered with a run of their own in the frame. Alex Bryant walked with the bases loaded to account for the score.

The Eagles tied the game in the fifth, as Jono Haught singled and stole second, and scored on a James Keller RBI single. The Knights forged ahead in the seventh with a run, but the eagles answered in the eighth. With two outs and no one on, Bryant singled, and Brian Burns was hit by a pitch. The runners advanced on a wild pitch, and Truslow walked to load the bases.

A passed ball scored pinch runner Connor Gilbert, and Burns scored on a wild pitch. After Jono Haught walked, James Keller was hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Another wild pitch sent UMW with an insurance run heading to the bottom of the ninth. The Knights rallied in the ninth, but were unable to push across a run.

Burns, Keller, and Thomas Weaver each had three hits for the Eagles, with Haught adding a single and two walks.

Senior Seth Taylor gained the win in relief, retiring the lone batter he faced in the eighth. Weaver gained the save, striking out three Knights in the ninth.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they host Eastern university for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
