The 17th ranked University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 20-4 decision in Capital Athletic Conference action to sixth-ranked Salisbury University on Saturday on Maryland's Eastern shore. The Eagles fall to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in CAC play.

The Eagles scored first, as junior Luke Dick scored unassisted with 10:54 remaining in the first quarter. The Sea Gulls were held scoreless for the first eight minutes of the quarter, but came to life with five goals in the final seven minutes to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.

After Salisbury scored twice to open the second, UMW's Paul Tunick and Joey Marson each scored unassisted to cut the deficit to 7-3. The Gulls closed the half with a pair of goals to move the halftime score to 9-3.

Salisbury outscored the Eagles, 4-0, in the third quarter, and scored seven straight in the fourth before UMW's Sean Dacey scored with one minute left to cap the scoring.

The Sea Gulls outshot UMW, 51-29, and had 62 ground balls to 28 for the Eagles. UMW goalkeepers Zack Del Grosso and Kyle Davitt each had six saves for the Eagles. Johnny Esposito led UMW with five ground balls.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Mary's College at 4:00 p.m. in another CAC contest.
