The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team dropped a 20-8 decision at top-seeded Salisbury University in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles close the season with a record of 9-7.

Mary Washington jumped ahead early, leading 3-2 with 1:45 left in the first quarter. Chip Pittard scored to put UMW ahead, 1-0, on a man-up goal with 10:45 remaining in the first. After the Sea Gulls tied the score, senior Paul Tunick scored with 6:19 left. Junior John Bohlinger scored on a Joey Marson assist with 1:45 left in the first to give the Eagles the lead, but the Sea Gulls scored three times in the final 1:07 to take a 5-3 lead to the second.

Salisbury ran the lead to 7-3 before UMW answered with a score from Luke Dick with 7:30 left, and another from Billy Kelly with 3:30 remaining on a Tunick pass. Salisbury scored to take an 8-5 advantage to halftime.

After Dick scored to cut the deficit to 8-6 in the third, Salisbury scored nine straight goals to put the game away. Bohlinger and Pittard each scored for UMW in the fourth, but the Gulls scored five in the fourth.

Salisbury led in shots, 59-26, and in ground balls, 63-35. Kyle Davitt had four saves and Pete Shammas added seven in relief for UMW. Jared Golden led UMW with five ground balls.
