The University of Mary Washington baseball team erupted for 13 runs and 14 hits in a ten-run win at Catholic University on Tuesday. The Eagles improve to 11-15-1 on the season.

The Eagles jumped ahead for good in the first, scoring four runs as Shane Sixsmith was hit by a pitch, Connor Wells singled, and Ben Sisk and Brent Steffey followed with doubles. With one out, Santino Rosanova singled to score Steffey with the fourth run of the inning.

In the fourth, Kevin Yarnell doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Jono Haught grounder. The Eagles would score two in the seventh, one in the eighth, and five more in the ninth. Sixsmith went 2-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Sisk was 2-5 with two runs and an RBI. Steffey went 2-6 with two runs and two RBI, and Yarnell, Haught, and Connor Finnerty each added two hits in the 14-hit attack.

Senior Zach Hendrix picked up the win for the Eagles, allowing three hits and three runs in five innings, with three walks and one strikeout. Jake Black pitched 3.2 innings of two-hit relief, and Nick McGovern came on for the final out.

Mary Washington will host York College on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in a key Capital Athletic Conference game which will kick off a three-game series between the schools with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
