UMW Men's Lacrosse Falls at St. Mary's, 8-6, in CAC Contest

The University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 3-0 lead but St. Mary's College netted seven straight goals in an 8-6 win over the Eagles on Saturday in St. Mary's City in Capital Athletic Conference action. The Eagles fall to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in CAC play.

The Eagles led, 2-0, after one quarter, as Harry Snyder and John Bohlinger netted goals, and upped the lead to 3-0 on a Paul Tunick score with 13:42 left in the second. After a Seahawk goal, Luke Dick scored on a Bohlinger assist to up UMW's lead to 4-1 with 9:59 left before halftime.

From there, St. Mary's scored seven straight goals, including four straight5 to open the fourth quarter. UMW scored late goals from Bohlinger and Tunick, but could draw no closer than 8-6.

St. Mary's led in shots, 37-27, and in ground balls, 31-22. Senior goalie Matt Prin had 11 saves for the Eagles.

Mary Washington will host top-ranked Salisbury University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in another conference matchup.
