Sophomore John Bohlinger scored four goals and added one assist, and junior Sean Dacey added two goals including the game winner with 2:11 remaining as the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team overcame a two-goal deficit to top Virginia Wesleyan College, 10-9, on Saturday in both teams' season opener.

The Marlins took a 2-0 advantage after the first quarter, but the Eagles rallied with four straight scores in the second to take a 4-3 lead to halftime. Bohlinger scored twice in the quarter, and Harry Snyder and Dacey each netted solo scores.

Virginia Wesleyan scored four of the next five goals, and led, 7-5, into the fourth quarter. Chip Pittard scored with 12:50 remaining to cut the deficit to one, but the Marlins answered two and a half minutes later. UMW scored two straight, by Bohlinger and Paul Tunick, to tie the score, and after the Marlins regained the lead with 6:48 to play, UMW received goals from Tunick and Dacey for the win.

The Marlins led in shots, 51-34, and in ground balls, 41-35. The Eagles were 1-1 on extra man opportunities, while the Marlins were 2-6.

Senior goalie Matt Prin made 13 saves for the Eagles, who will be back in action next Saturday when they host Hampden-Sydney College at 1:00 p.m. in the first-ever game on the new UMW turf field.
