The University of Mary Washington baseball team overcame a 4-3 deficit with five runs in the final four innings in topping Bridgewater College, 8-6, on Thursday in Bridgewater. Mary Washington snaps BC's eight-game win streak, while extending their own streak to nine wins in their last 10 games.
The comeback began with
Shane Sixsmith (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac)'s sacrifice fly and
Matt Kaler (Bethesda, Md., Walt Whitman)'s RBI single. The Eagles tacked on another run in the seventh as
Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) was hit by a pitch and scored on a
Santino Rosanova (Laurel, Md., DeMatha) RBI single.
Mary Washington scored a pair of runs in the eighth, as Sixsmith and Kaler led off with singles before
Seamus Bergen (Fredericksburg, Va., Chancellor) walked. Rehbein reached on a fielder's choice scoring Sixsmith, and
Will Wright (St. Louis, Mo., St. Louis Priory) added an RBI single to plate Kaler.
Seth Jordan (Springfield, Va., South County),
Alex Howell (Glen Allen, Va., Hermitage), and Sixsmith each had a single and double to lead UMW, while Howell and Wright each drove in two runs. Rehbein scored twice and knocked in one.

Torey Mancari (Warrenton, Va., Paul VI) picked up the win in relief for UMW, allowing two hits in 1.2 innings with two walks and two strikeouts. He came on in relief of starter
Zach Hendrix (Earlysville, Va., Albemarle), who allowed five runs on wight hits in 5.1 innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Sophomore
Ryan Engelking (Silver Spring, Md., DeMatha) earned the save, allowing one hit in two innings with two strikeouts.
The Eagles begin the stretch run for the Capital Athletic Conference tournament this weekend with a key pair of doubleheaders, hosting Stevenson University for two on Saturday before visiting Salisbury University for a pair on Sunday. Both twinbills start at 1:00 p.m.
