Rehbein Paces UMW Baseball Past St. Mary's

Junior Eric Rehbein (Alexandria, Va., Gonzaga) collected four hits at the plate and allowed one earned run in eight innings to pace the University of Mary Washington baseball team to a 9-2 victory over St. Mary's College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles improve to 14-5 overall and 7-3 in CAC action.

The Eagles pated four runs in the second inning, as Jackson Clement (Fairfax, Va., Woodson) and Nick Espinosa (Arnold, Md., Broadneck) singled, and the Seahawks committed a pair of errors, opening the door for a four-run frame. The Eagles added a pair of runs in the second as Rehbein singled and senior LF Will Wright (St. Louis, Mo., St. Louis Priory) blasted a two-run homer to left field.

Wright doubled in Rehbein in the sixth and scored on a wild pitch. After the Seahawks scored twice in the eighth, Rehbein scored on a wild pitch to push across the final run of the day.

In addition to his four hits, Rehbein scored three runs at the plate, and allowed one earned run in eight innings, with five hits and two walks allowed with seven strikeouts. Esoinosa continued his hot hitting, going 3-4 at the plate with two singles and a double, while Wright doubled, homered, scored twice, and drove in three. 

Mary Washington will visit York College of PA on Friday at 3:00 for a CAC makeup game.
