The University of Mary Washington volleyball team split a pair of matches at Franklin and Marshall College on Saturday to move to 2-3 on the season. The Eagles topped Susquehanna University, 3-1, before falling in five games to Penn State Harrisburg.
The Eagles started with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 25-15 win over Susquehanna. Junior
Jocelyn Fang led the Eagles with 15 kills and two service aces, while junior
Alice Holoubek added 10 kills and six blocks. Freshman
Sofie Ferrell led with 25 assists, and senior
Julia Gustafson added a team-high 21 digs.
UMW then fell to Penn State Harrisburg, 26-28, 25-11, 25-11, 20-25, 15-13. Holoubek led UMW with 12 kills to go with six blocks, while senior
Natalie Brown posted 11 kills and three blocks. Ferrell scored a career-high 30 assists, and Gustafson posted 27 digs in the marathon match.
The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at Catholic University.
