The University of Mary Washington volleyball team outlasted host Shenandoah University in five sets on Tuesday night in both teams' season opener. Scores were 25-16, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11.
The Eagles were led by senior
Natalie Brown, who scored 18 kills against four errors in 32 attempts for a .438 hitting average. Sophomore
Sierra Hunt and junior
Alice Holoubek each scored kills. Sophomore
Naomi Decker posted 24 assists, while freshman
Sofie Ferrell added 20 assists.
Brown led with five total blocks, while
Julia Gustafson posted 19 digs.
The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they face Southern Virginia University at 3 pm and Randolph-Macon College at 5 pm at the Henrico Sports Complex.
