UMW Softball Falls to Shenandoah on Tuesday

The University of Mary Washington softball team fell in a Tuesday doubleheader to Shenandoah in Winchester, Va.

Game 1 - Eagles fall, 9-1.

UMW fell behind by three early before Kennedy Darling scored on a passed ball to cut into the gap, 3-1, in the third inning. The Hornets scored six more runs to come away with a run-rule victory.

Bayly Yerigan, Mia Farhat, and Emily Mousso all recorded hits for UMW.

Game 2 - Eagles fall, 4-2.

The Eagles jumped on the board first in game two when Erica Shoop singled home Maeve Haun, but in the bottom of the first, the Hornets took the lead with a pair of runs, 2-1.

In the fourth, Shenandoah scored once more to add to the lead, 3-1. In the fifth, though, Erica Shoop singled home another run as she reached on an infield single that scored Haun to cut into the gap, 3-2. But the Hornets added another run in the sixth to add to the lead.

Haun and Shoop each had a pair of hits, while Yerigan, Mousso, Ari Biddle, and Linsey Spillman all had a hit for UMW. Cierra Foss went all six innings for Mary Washington.
