The University of Mary Washington softball team fell in a Tuesday doubleheader to Shenandoah in Winchester, Va.
Game 1 - Eagles fall, 9-1.
UMW fell behind by three early before
Kennedy Darling scored on a passed ball to cut into the gap, 3-1, in the third inning. The Hornets scored six more runs to come away with a run-rule victory.
Bayly Yerigan,
Mia Farhat, and
Emily Mousso all recorded hits for UMW.
Game 2 - Eagles fall, 4-2.
The Eagles jumped on the board first in game two when
Erica Shoop singled home
Maeve Haun, but in the bottom of the first, the Hornets took the lead with a pair of runs, 2-1.
In the fourth, Shenandoah scored once more to add to the lead, 3-1. In the fifth, though,
Erica Shoop singled home another run as she reached on an infield single that scored Haun to cut into the gap, 3-2. But the Hornets added another run in the sixth to add to the lead.
Haun and Shoop each had a pair of hits, while Yerigan, Mousso,
Ari Biddle, and
Linsey Spillman all had a hit for UMW.
Cierra Foss went all six innings for Mary Washington.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday against Marymount in Arlington, Va. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
