#25 UMW Baseball Outslugged By Penn State-Harrisburg, 14-9

The No. 25 Mary Washington baseball team fell to Penn State-Harrisburg on Sunday, 14-9, in Fredericksburg, Va.

PSH jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first before the Eagles took a 3-1 lead in the bottom half. Connor Hassan doubled home both Oliver Martin and George Rizzo before he stole third, then scored on an errant throw.

A three-run triple gave PSH the lead back in the second, 4-3. But UMW wasn't done scoring yet as Eric Powell and William Tuttle each drove in runs with RBI singles before Powell scored on an errant pick-off throw, 6-4. Two more Penn State-Harrisburg runs in the fifth gave them the lead, 7-6.

UMW tied the game for the final time when Benjamin Rossi was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth, 7-7. Then, Penn State-Harrisburg struck for six runs in the seventh and another in the eighth, 14-7. In the bottom of the eighth, Collin Clarkson doubled home Oliver Martin, before Eric Powell did the same to draw a tad closer, 14-9.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday at Mary Baldwin. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
