The University of Mary Washington softball team took down New York University on Saturday morning, 11-2, in Raleigh, N.C. The Eagles jumped on the Violets early as they put up three runs in the first.
Following a scoreless second, the Eagles put up five runs in the third, followed by two more in the fourth, and another in the fifth.
Erica Shoop had a 3-for-3 day with four RBIs, while
Ari Biddle added two hits in two at-bats with two runs scored.
Bayly Yerigan added an RBI single, meanwhile
Emily Angel,
Maeve Haun,
Shelby Presgrave,
Kennedy Darling, and
Mia Farhat all had a hit.
Sydney Jester went the first three innings for the Eagles, yielding just one run on one hit and was relieved by
Charlotte Daniels, who recorded the final six outs.
Against Averett, the Eagles fell 10-0 as Haun and Briddle collected base hits.
The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday against Roanoke. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
