The University of Mary Washington baseball team (RV) fell to No. 25 Randolph-Macon, 9-2, on Thursday evening in Ashland, Va.
The Eagles got a solid start from
Matthew Caldwell, who yielded just one run in five innings as he departed with a 2-1 lead the Eagles put up in the third inning. To get the scoring started,
George Rizzo reached on a throwing error that scored
Eric Powell, then
Connor Hassan recorded a sac fly that plated
Cole Powers.
But six runs would score in the bottom of the sixth, giving Macon a 7-2 lead before the Yellow Jackets added two more runs in the eighth.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday with a doubleheader against Gettysburg in Columbia, Md.
