The University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-7 decision at ninth ranked Washington and Lee University on Wednesday evening in Lexington, Va. The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Eagles jumped ahead first, as senior
Ashley Firesheets scored on an assist from junior
Anna Dube at 13:43 left in the first. The Generals rallied to tie the score at 12:32, and went ahead with 58 seconds left in the first.
UMW tied the score at 2-2 with 12:08 left in the second, as sophomore
Sadie Laughlin scored unassisted. Dube scored less than a minute later to give UMW a 3-2 advantage. Washington and Lee responded with three tallies to close th second, and take a 5-3 lead to halftime.
In the third, the Generals started to pull away with three straight scores, but the Eagles rebounded before the start of the fourth with a pair of goals from Dube. Kimber Konen.
Washington and Lee led in shots, 28-26. Junior goalkeeper
Cece Van Blenis made ten saves in goal for the Eagles.
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday at Shenandoah University at 1:00 p.m.
