The University of Mary Washington softball program swept McDaniel in a doubleheader on Wednesday in Fredericksburg, Va.
Game 1 - Eagles win, 8-1
In Game 1, the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Emily Mosso drove in
Kennedy Darling on a fielder's choice in the first inning. In the third,
Emily Angel's sac fly drove in another before an errant throw back in yielded for another runner to score as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead.
Later in the third, Mosso again reached on a fielder's choice as Darling scored once again to give UMW a 4-0 advantage. In the fifth,
Erica Shoop drove a two-RBI double out towards center field that increased the Eagles' lead to six, 6-0. McDaniel got a run back in the sixth, but a two-run homer from Angel put UMW in the driver's seat for good in the sixth inning.

Stephanie Csontos and
Anna Dobson combined to get the final nine outs and seal the Game 1 victory.
Game 2 - Eagles win, 6-1
In Game 2, Mosso put the Eagles out front early once again in the first inning as she drove an RBI single into the outfield that scored
Kennedy Darling. In the second,
Linsey Spillman dropped down a sac bunt that allowed Ari Briddle to score from third.
McDaniel drew a tad closer in the third after an RBI double cut the deficit to 2-1, but it was all UMW from there. In the fifth, Angel doubled home Darling, who scored on an errant throw. Then Mosso singled home Angel. In the sixth with a 4-1 lead,
Maeve Haun doubled
Bayly Yerigan home, while
Mia Farhat singled to drive in Haun.
Cierra Foss tossed six innings of one-run ball, striking out three, and working around five hits and a walk. Meanwhile,
Sofia Ponce recorded the final three outs.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday with a doubleheader against Lynchburg in Fredericksburg, Va.
