The University of Mary Washington softball team fell to No. 7 Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader in Ashland, Va.
Game 1 - Eagles fall, 8-0
In game one, the Eagles collected one hit on an
Emily Angel double before falling 8-0. In her four innings in the circle,
Sydney Jester yielded just two earned runs and struck out a pair.
Game 2 - Eagles fall, 3-2
In game two, the Eagles jumped out early in the first inning with two runs to take the lead against the Yellow Jackets. After
Kennedy Darling drew a walk,
Emily Angel drove a pitch over the center field wall to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. After a few innings, the Yellow Jackets took the lead for good in the third after putting up a three-spot on the Eagles to jump out in front, 3-2.Â
Cierra Foss went all six innings for UMW as she struck out three -- her only blemish was the three-run homer she yielded in the third inning as she worked around 14 groundouts and a trio of strikeouts.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against McDaniel in Fredericksburg, Va.
