The University of Mary Washington fell to No. 3 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday evening in Baltimore, Md., 81-37. Sophomore center

UMW took an early 7-2 lead after
Jenna Steadman nailed a 3-pointer and a jumper before Mabie got in on the action with a layup herself in the first three minutes of action, which the Eagles used to their advantage as they took a 17-16 lead at the end of the first quarter after shooting 8-for-17 from the floor, that included one 3-pointer. UMW held Hopkins to just a 7-of-22 (31.8%) mark from the floor while forcing the Blue Jays to miss all six of their shots from deep.
But the rest of the evening didn't go the Eagles way as Hopkins out-scored UMW 29-8 in the second period and running away with the win in the second half.Â
For the day, the Eagles shot 15-of-59, nailing a trio of treys in the process. Meanwhile, Hopkins was 32-for-76 (42.1%) that included nine 3-pointer's. The Eagles forced 14 turnovers on defense, coming away with eight steals as
McKenna Huff led the way with three of her own.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday with a matchup against Christopher Newport (RV) at 4 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Va.
