The University of Mary Washington men's soccer team (5-5) earned a shutout victory over Messiah, 2-0, in Grantham, PA on Saturday night.
The Eagles used first-year
Micah Davis's first career goal to get the offense going in the 22nd minute, then took a 1-0 lead into the half. In the first half, Mary Washington trailed in shots, 7-6, but led in and shots-on-goal (3-0), and it was Davis's right foot that was the difference.
In the second half, junior
Jack Sturman netted the finisher in the 60th minute that put the Falcons away for good as the midfielder scored in his second consecutive game.Â
For the night, the Eagles led in shots 12-10, and shots-on-goal, 4-0. Though, UMW did trail in corners, 10-6, stopping each of the Falcons's set pieces.
Junior
Elliot Berg led the way for UMW with three shots, while
Sammy Amorose had a pair.

Tristan Kickbush recorded his first career shutout, playing in all 90 minutes.
The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday against Roanoke at Roy Gordon Field in Fredericksburg, Va. First touch is set for 4 p.m.
