The University of Mary Washington's men's swimming and diving program opened up its 2025-26 season against five Division I schools, placing fourth of six in Friday's Potomac Relays at American University.
The Eagles opened up the meet with a seventh place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with
Tucker Burkey,
Johnathan Zimmer,
Rece Storer, and Will Burkey placing in seventh. UMW had a second seventh place finish in the 3x100-yard butterfly relay with
Patrick Stern,
Brandon Harvey, and
Larry Almariento finishing with a final time of 2:47.22.
In the 3x100-yard backstroke,
Tucker Burkey,
Thomas Sites, and Storer finished in fourth with a time of 2:40.56. In the 3x100-yard breaststroke, Zimmer, Will Burkey, and Dan Rojas placed sixth with a time of 3:04.15.
In the 500-yard freestyle relay, the highest-finishing UMW team placed in seventh with
Eli Polovchik, Harvey,
Guenter Kryszon, and Sites finishing in seventh (4:22.25).
UMW placed in sixth in the 400-yard medley relay as
Tucker Burkey, Will Burkey, Zimmer, and Stern finished witha time of 3:44.23. And in the 200-yard freestyle relay, Storer, Will Burkey, Harvey and Sites finished in sixth (1:26.25).
The Eagles finished with 354 points, besting both Howard (314) and Mount St. Mary's (292).
UMW is back in action to open up the head-to-head meet season on Friday, Oct. 10 in Lexington, Va. against Washington & Lee.
